What Clients & Others are Saying …

Tony Liu, President, Sunmodo Corp.
Alan has been helping me for patent filing and other consultant services since 2010. He helped me to win three patent applications, one through clean technology with approval less than 12 months from filing date. I am very impressive in his deep and detail knowledge in the field. His patentability search and analysis report is one of the best. Since I am very satisfied with his high quality and cost effective services, he has been continuing to help us several other patent applications. I strongly recommend using his service, excellent work and a fraction of the cost of patent attorney.

Gregory Header, former CEO of Solar Innovations (since sold to Fortune Brands)
Alan’s work with my staff has been exceptional. He is diligent and timely with projects. Alan makes every attempt to understand our requests prior to asking for additional information. Alan’s availability to myself and to my team and hours that are convenient to our business makes all the difference in this type of relationship. Alan’s respect for the time and finances of my own entrepreneurial company have been second to none. I know what I can count on when Alan is involved.

Melissa Reinhart former Marketing Manager Solar Innovations (since sold to Fortune Brands)
Organized, Direct, and Timely are three words that we have found to be a part of Alan’s core business. His unique dedication to becoming a part of the Solar team has led to far more work than we’d originally anticipated with counsel on the other side of the country. Alan’s meticulous scheduling and diligent follow up have helped to make my role in this task far easier.

Timothy Dorwart former CEO, Stanton, Cerwin Vega, & KRK
Alan has done work for me at the Stanton Group for many years. He developed and managed our patent program, and has done project management, and engineering consulting for the company. I have found him and his work to be of the highest integrity and his fees to be fair and reasonable. He provides a great service and we continue to rely on him for our patent process management now that he has chosen this area for his focus.

Gus Jursch  former General Mgr. Gibson Pro Audio and former VP Operations, Stanton Group
Alan is a detailed oriented patent expert and a creative engineer along with being an exceptionally kind individual. I worked with Alan at Stanton DJ where Alan was the head of Engineering, Alan and his team innovated many exciting products. I further worked with Alan after the Stanton Group, where he guided us through the patent process ultimately leading to the issuance of patents. Alan is great to work with and him guidance on patents was invaluable.

Mike Neumann, former Director of Product Management, Cerwin Vega & KRK
Alan’s patent services provide excellent education and planning to insure that your entire company is working together to protect designs and intellectual property. He provides excellent informational content plus group planning so that everyone from marketing to engineering is taking a team approach to this all important subject. Alan’s presentation is eye opening by providing insights into protecting designs or I.P. you may not be aware of. I recommend his services not only to those companies currently looking for I.P. protection but also to those that may not be aware of the importance of thinking about this subject strategically.

Jim Mazur, former Director of Product Management, Stanton
I’ve worked with Alan is several capacities so its quite hard to write this review. I think it is very important to touch on each of his capabilities to understand why he is such an important asset for any company looking for his services.

First, and maybe not foremost for all, but as a colleague… My years working with Alan in the same company bring great memories. I can’t say that I’ve ever worked with a professional that had such great personal attributes as Alan. I know on linkedin that recommendations can become somewhat tainted by friendships, but it would hard to write a review of Alan and not mention that he views working with people as creating a bond whereas both parties grow and feel comfortable and at ease with each other. During his time as VP of engineering at Stanton, he treated everyone he worked with as a partner, friend and equal. I can say for sure this leadership style led to great things being achieved because of his ability to build teams and most importantly trust.

I feel fortunate to have watched Alan move into his first VP role at Stanton. During this time I was working in product design / development and to some degree I was quite spoiled by having Alan running the engineering team. As a designer, I think it is in my blood to push boundaries and try to create the impossible. Alan was always there to brainstorm on how to achieve such goals and quite amazingly he had the ability to use the creative side of his mind to solve the practical challenges at hand. Unlike a lot of engineers he didn’t confine himself to the logical blocks that he was trained to use, instead he found novel ways to solve complex problems that would leave most giving up at best.

As Alan ventured into intellectual property and patents, I had no doubt that this would be a great path for him. For me, patents almost contradict the creative world. Inventor’s are dreamers, not lawyers and probably most fail because of this. Alan on the other hand is the perfect gateway in this regard. His creative thinking coupled with his technical genius really started to shine when it came to drafting patents. Having a few patents go through under Alan’s watch I can attest for his ability to get behind the big abstract picture of an invention and distill it down to parts that both encapsulate the ideas to be protected, but more so into concrete claims that are future proof and not isolating to the point in which a patent becomes useless.

In closing, I could only compare Alan’s ability to a great architect who constructs mega-structures that are both breathtaking to the eye and obey all the laws of engineering and structure. He is the most amazing person I have ever worked with and I’m not sure I will ever meet someone who will top his abilities. I recommend him with the highest regards.

Ron Norelli, CEO, Norelli and Company
I highly recommend Alan Flum of Stone Creek Patent Services. I had occasion to interact with Alan when he was Vice President of Engineering at Stanton. This was an intense and demanding client matter where effective development and introduction of high value new products were essential to the client’s future success. He understands that success ultimately means a commercial success (not just a neat idea) and he is skilled at being the leader of an innovation team that must include marketing, manufacturing, sourcing, quality assurance and even financial people. Now as a Patent Agent, he is skilled and knowledgeable of the IP process that includes patent issues.

Robert Dolce, President, HuksefluxUSA Inc.
It has been both a privilege and pleasure working with Stone Creek. I cannot say enough about the degree of professional you exude and your tireless determination to deliver the most comprehensive patent protection possible for your clients, least not to mention your thorough knowledge of the U.S. patent process. I’ve worked with other patent firms before and I can say with absolute conviction… the level of service and value offered by Stone Creek is second to none!

Brett Hamilton, Owner, SIMPLE.BE
Alan Flum is a master of patents. His approach is respectful, rational and thoughtful. Alan provides solid feedback and guidance, allowing the entrepreneur to make well-informed decisions and proceed with confidence. Alan is a key member of our team, and he provides excellent value. Alan’s experience and understanding of the 12-month Accelerated Exam resulted in my first utility patent being granted 8 months after filing. Alan’s dedication and personal skills are a great asset, and I always look forward to our meetings. Alan has a great mind for strategy. I admire and respect his integrity and focus.

Len Bryan  fomer President, Ecolivegreen
Alan will go the extra mile, and he achieved results for us that we thought were impossible. Our patent has recently been allowed, and we expect issuance shortly thanks to Alan’s work. Additionally, we have requested patent searches from Alan’s firm, and I can personally state that they are the most complete and detailed searches I have ever received. I was quite impressed.

Philippe Hartley, Former CEO, Phat Energy
Alan Flum operates on the side line of your company like a secret weapon. PHAT Energy considers him a member of our team, although he has plenty of other teams he helps out. For us, he is a highly reliable window into the opportunities and challenges of the patent writing process, and we count on him to deliver us the greatest possible chances to turn our R&D dollars into assets via patent protection. Alan seems to embrace his role as such, and delivers a highly detail, passionate, scrupulous approach to the task, while working around our demanding schedules. He has presented his success statistics to us and, while we have not verified them, his approach thus far has supported the claim. If he delivers victories in the filings he is doing on our behalf, we think Alan should patent himself.

Chris Townsend, former President, Full Code Audio
I hired Alan to write a patent for an invention of mine, and I am so glad I found him. Alan’s domain expertise in the professional audio field helped immensely, and his general knowledge of patents is superb. The patent turned out to be much more complicated than either of us expected, but Alan rose to the challenge. He quickly got his head around many subtle distinctions of the invention and wrote text and claims that encapsulated it all.

Alan is extraordinarily thorough, which is just want you need when filling a patent. The only negative I can say, which is a slight one, is that his exceptional attention to detail might have resulted in a patent that is a little larger than it needed to be. But of course it’s better to error on too much than little, and the end result is a very complete and comprehensive patent.

The bottom line is that my patent was approved on the first go around, and it’s as broad as I could have hoped for. I had a considered filling the patent myself, but in retrospect I would have been totally lost without him. Having Alan to guide me through the process and explain the many arcane patent requirements was invaluable. I can recommend Alan without hesitation.

Anthony Young, Independent Entrepenuer
Alan has the patent expertise you would expect from a high-end IP firm, with a personal touch and attention to customer service that makes working with him a pleasure. I hired Alan to assist me with two patents, taking advantage of various programs in the patent office to accelerate examination. Each received no action allowances less than 9 months after hire date.

I worked with Alan purely remotely, and despite never meeting face-to-face always felt that we were in lock-step while writing the patents. Generally, I used video conference to explain inventions/prototypes to him and for strategic sessions. Where there was additional detail needed, I supplied photos, diagrams, and text descriptions. These interactions were efficient and very enjoyable, and although I’m sure Alan is great to work with in-person I don’t feel anything was lost by our remoteness.

Overall, I was pleased with all aspects of Alan’s patent work. His patentability search was incredibly thorough, his invention description was clear, comprehensive and included beautiful diagrams, and the claims he wrote were meticulously architected. Alan is incredibly knowledgeable in the field of patents and the craft of writing them, and without reservation I recommend him.
